Jack Lugar, Attorney at The Foster Group, Will Challenge Dan Burton in Run for the Republican Nomination for Indiana’s 5th Congressional District
Fishers, IN – Citing his concern that Congress has refused to make the tough decisions to protect this country and return it to prosperity Jack Lugar formallyannounced his candidacy for Congress in Indiana’s 5th Congressional District. Lugar announced his decision at an event surrounded by family, friends, and his wife of nearly 20 years in the home of local Camel, IN residents earlier this week. Lugar believes that home gatherings, where he can hear and address the concerns of Indiana residents in a more intimate forum, provide him with a greater understanding of the changes Indiana voters are demanding.
“I want to return our country to prosperity, to rebuild the infrastructure, allow more incentives for jobs to be created in America, repeal ObamaCare, improve our health care system, and reduce the burden on the working family,” said Lugar. “I was approached to run for Congress and knew that I could no longer sit back and wait for our current leadership to do their job. Instead, it was time for me to step up and do my part to resolve the economic crisis in this country right now.”
“For years I have seen a decline in our leadership, and an inability to really understand the concerns of those in the 5th District. I believe that strength in character, determination, principled leadership, and integrity are core values that our representatives should have. I am convinced that a good leader lives his everyday life the same way that he would govern, and I aspire to that every day. I promise that when I’m elected to Congress, I will allow my Hoosier values to continue to guide me while maintaining an active life in Indiana.”
“I will not let Washington change me, as others have. Many seem to leave their values and common sense at the front doors of Congress,” said Lugar. “At home, I was taught that when families run low on money, they stop spending. They don’t go out to eat, go out to the movies, or spend money on the latest gadgets. Families tighten their belts, pinch pennies, and find ways to increase income. I believe that is exactly what the government should do. A smaller government and focused use of resources is a better government.”
“We have seen elected officials change their positions on key issues as it suits their own interests. Whether it is saying they are strong on defense on the one hand, and then taking donations from questionable foreign sources – or claiming to be fiscally conservative and then voting to bail out Wall Street instead of families, it is all unacceptable,” said Lugar. “Being a man of my word is of the utmost importance to me.”
About Jack Lugar
Jack Lugar, a native Hoosier and active member of the community, was raised in Indianapolis in a hard working, middle class family where he was taught the importance of financial responsibility, integrity, hard work ethic, standing up for his principles, and accountability. Like many local residents, Jack is concerned about the current direction of our nation and would like to see our country return to prosperity right now. He believes that our leaders have failed to listen to the American public and have changed their positions on key issues as it suits their own interests. He is running for Congress because he feels the district’s current representation in the House of Representatives is out of touch with local voters’ good Hoosier common sense and concerns.

Lugar‘s Grassroots Campaign Gains Momentum in the Community
Republican Candidate for Indiana’s 5th Congressional District
Fishers, IN – Jack Lugar continued with his grassroots campaign for the Republican nomination in the 5th District. Bringing a refreshing attitude to the political arena he stands out as a true conservative who believes in returning our country to prosperity. Saturday he spent the day at the Indiana State Fair with his family in the official Lugar for Congress T-Shirts. Local residents who saw the social media platforms offering a button for those who saw the candidate and his family in the t-shirts received a Lugar for Congress button. Lugar had the chance to talk with concerned citizens who were looking for a candidate they could rally behind.
Friday will kick off Lugar’s weekly “Joe with Jack” at Big Apple Bagels in Fishers, IN from 6:30am – 8:00am. Lugar believes in meeting local residents in the community and having informal round table discussions to understand the change those in the 5th District are desiring. Just this week a 71 year old Fishers resident emailed Lugar citing, “His (Lugar’s) principles are a vivid reflection of my own sentiments about the direction our country has been going and the changes that need to be made to get us back on the right track so I would like to assist in any way I can in helping him meet that goal.”
Lugar will end the week at the Elwood Glass Festival in Madison County and with another Meet the Candidate Home Gathering in Carmel, IN.

Jack Lugar Responds to Indiana Rep. Dan Burton Retirement Announcement
Fishers, IN - Upon the announcement that Congressman Dan Burton has decided not to seek another term in office, congressional candidate Jack Lugar thanked the Congressman for his many years of service to Indiana and the country. “I wish him the best as he moves into this new phase in life and look forward to the opportunity to benefit from his experience and wisdom as I move forward with my career. In reference to his family’s health issues, they will be in my prayers.”
Congressman Burton’s decision not to seek reelection will not change Lugar’s approach to this primary race. “As I have stated from the beginning, I entered this race because it was time for a new generation of leaders. Our country’s younger generations have long needed better representation in Washington and I am answering that call.” Lugar also stated, “My candidacy was because of a belief that it is time for the 5th District to be represented by a person who lives and participates within the community.”
Running a grassroots campaign, Lugar said, “Even though our finances are limited, we are encouraged by the favorable polling and the strong support of a candidate who is an everyday American such as myself.” Lugar vowed to continue spreading his “true conservative” message about cutting the deficit through true fiscal responsibility, job growth, energy independence, and a strong national defense.”
